Elephant's Walk annual Christmas Fair was once
again organized by Lenore Finaughty and her committed
helpers. It was with luck that the rain managed to stay
away for the day and many visitors to the fair got to
enjoy a hot summer's day out. The smell of popcorn,
candy floss and braaing boerewors permeated the air
around the many stands set up with all types of
Christmas goodies. Our local Africa Café chef – Camilla
Meiring and her dedicated staff had spent many days
baking, cooking and creating the most delectable
Christmas goodies ever seen in Vic Falls! Jordan Brink
and Roy Van Rooyen roasted a lamb on the spit to
absolute perfection and were seen cooling off in the
tropical pond in-between basting!
This year's focus was raising funds
for the older people of Victoria Falls and the main
attractions were the fabulous raffle prizes kindly
donated by the Victoria Falls community. Namely:- Elephant Hills Hotel, Mama Africa, Shearwater, Instant
Cater Quip, Ndau, Croco Afrique, Gail Van Jaarsveldt,
Predator Diving, Lemington, Lion Encounter, The Carnival
Group, Thurbas, Victoria Falls Hotel, Liquorama, Southern Treasures, Bhekumuzi Tshabalabala and Silver
Tours.
Special mention must go out to our
local Rasta - TNT for his donations, tireless efforts
selling raffle tickets and raising awareness for the
whole fair.
The oldies in Chinotimba were
absolutely thrilled when the team arrived at their
premises laden with pots, pans, gardening equipment for
their back yard and some foods. From the funds raised,
a considerable amount went towards Cathrina's medicine
kitty for the oldies that she assists.
